Absorbing Knowledge About Absorption Heat Pump Prices and Their Installation PDF Print E-mail

With heat pump prices for traditional heaters and air conditioners going up with time, people try everything to cope with the daunting summer heat or the unbearable winter cold. They can try insulating their homes or readjusting the orientation of their houses so that they do not directly face the sun, among other methods. With the introduction of these pumps, homeowners can benefit from having a heating and cooling system in one package, plus the fact that it is more environmentally friendly than traditional heating or cooling devices. This is because the heat used by these pumps is actually converted from the air within or without the house and not generated by motors and such.

They are a little more tempting to those who live in temperate climates, and there are a slew of types to choose from. The most popular and the most basic model is the air-source type, designed to absorb heat from the air and either heat up or cool down the home according to the house's specifications. Other types include the ductless, solar-powered, geothermal and absorption varieties.

The absorption type is like the air-source, but it is fueled by natural gas, propane, solar-heated water, or geothermal-heated water. It uses the ammonia-water absorption cycle for heating and cooling. The ammonia, which is used as a refrigerant for this type of pump, is condensed in one coil to release the heat; pressure is reduced and the refrigerant is evaporated to absorb heat; the evaporated ammonia is not pumped up in pressure by a compressor but is absorbed into water; the heat source boils the water and resumes the cycle. Unfortunately, only a few of these five-ton residential cooler systems are fit for houses that have an area of four thousand square feet, and the heat pump prices for this system is quite steep. This stems from its history of being used predominantly in industrial areas.

But if anyone can find an absorption type and account for its steep heat pump prices, then another thing to remember is that the quality of water used for the absorption cycle should be of a very high quality. If it's of poor quality then it might end up damaging the pump immediately. They can also be quite loud, so try choosing a pump that won't disturb the household or the neighbors. Finally, choose an experienced contractor to handle the installation and any necessary maintenance. If the work is shoddy then it will ruin the pump, wasting all that money spent to accommodate the system.
